Don’t Let Jet-lag Win!

Comfortable airport nap to beat jet lag and recharge before your flight.

Sometimes I wish we actually could have one superpower. Remember when you were a kid and someone would ask “If you could have 1 superpower what would it be?”

I think as adults we’re much more qualified to come up with an answer that is a GENIUS hack and could make life a lot simpler.

How about:

  • I would have super sleep so that even 4 hours feels like 10 hours perfect sleep!
  • I would be able to duplicate myself and get work, chores, and fun done simultaneously!
  • I would have super strength so I’d never have to work out again!

Ok kidding aside, how many of us resonate with some version of that 1st one and the wish for
superpowers to help with that never ending battle of “getting enough sleep”. I know my hand
is up!

In the reality of travel and all the amazing places we want to visit there’s always that factor of
time differences creating JET-LAG! Maybe another superpower is “I would be able to adapt to
any time-zone instantly with no side effects!”

While that may be a fantasy wish I do have 3 ways you can decrease Jet-lag to make your
vacation just a bit less tiring!

  1. Start adjusting the entire week before you leave. Remember to adjust based on the time
zone you’re going to and try every night to stay up later or go to bed early by 30 minutes. If
your work or life schedule don’t allow for that big of a chunk then just try for 10 extra minutes
every night to get you started on that change before you ever leave. For an extra boost, try to
do the same thing in the morning the last 2-3 days before you leave.
  2. Arrive to your destination 1-2 days before your plans start – If at all possible, try not to plan
anything you really want to enjoy when doing a big time change jump for the first 24-48 hours.
This will give you time to adjust and then enjoy the thing you’re most excited for with less of
that groggy “Where am I?” feeling.
  3. Plan chunks of chill time into your days – Hey we ALL wish that we could nap more so take
full advantage of that on vacation and plan those naps into your schedule! If you aren’t a
napper but you’ve been just dying for an excuse to lounge in the sun or finally read that novel
that’s been waiting on your nightstand for 6 months, this is the chance you’ve been waiting
    for!

When we give ourselves the best chance to enjoy our time with a little prepartation and
planning, we use the superpower we all already have!

To go with that, here is our quote:

Uncle Ben (Spiderman)
“With great power comes great responsibility
